How it works?
Simple its all about pixels, every display has loads of signals telling it when to light up, but when there is a lot of pixels and loads of signals on the same plane, signals get crossed with each other and all image quality is drained out. In new iPad those pixels ware separated from the signals, so they are on the different planes and they just don’t collide with each other leaving amazing image, and million more pixels than an HDTV.

Now iPad is more powerful thanks to all the goodies that ware put into it. The Retina display works only thanks to the Dual-Core Apple A5X chip, it drives power to every one of the 3.1 million pixels in the display.
